We have launched our For Our Future Learning Program and are currently seeking a Communications Officer for this summer. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about social and political issues in Canada and is looking to have a future in either communications or a not-for-profit organization.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Communications Officer will help deliver on each of our objectives. Your priorities include managing digital media channels, helping to build strong communications products, designing creative media posts, and producing data analytics reports. Working across various projects and platforms, this role requires someone who is willing to learn and more than anything, a positive ‘can do’ attitude to succeed in this role. 

Support in advancing the key projects and priorities of For Our Future, include, but are not limited to:


Managing digital channels and platforms

  • Ensure our website is up to date, regularly uploading new content

  • Manage content for our national social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram

  • 􏰀Monitor our social media channel

  • Support management of our weekly newsletter and campaigns

Digital storytelling

  • Develop and curate content and stories for use on our digital channels

  • 􏰀Support digital engagement for our campaigns

Reporting and analytics

  • Use data to produce and adapt content for digital channels

  • Produce weekly reports on viewership, engagement, and the effectiveness of recent communications products and media


Successful applicants will need:

  • To have completed no less than two years of an undergraduate degree in political science, media and communications, commerce or a similar field

  • An interest in political communications, advocacy, and/or media relations

  • Experience with some of the following: website platforms, graphic design, and social media campaigns

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Drive

  • Proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram


Useful, but not necessary experience includes:

  • Familiarity with the website platform

  • Monitoring social media channels for a business or organization

  • Designing newsletters


Time Commitment:

  • This internship will begin on July 6th, 2020

  • This internship will end on August 28th, 2020

  • 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • This position is remote.
